Auditions (Percussion)

Percussion auditions for marching band for the 2015-2016 school year will be held in the Clear Springs High School music wing beginning with a series of clinics in April and concluding with a summer camp in June.  Percussion auditions for concert season for the 2014-2015 school year will be take place on May 27th. The exact days and times for these clinics, camps, and audition can be found on our online calendar which can be accessed by clicking here or clicking the calendar link at the top of this page.  Any non-percussionists such as oboes and bassoons who will be playing with the pit or battery during marching season will need to attend the percussion clinics and summer camps.

Last Fundraiser of the Year

The Band Boosters with the support from Chili’s will be having a Give Back Event on:

TUESDAY APRIL 1, 2014
From 11AM – 11PM
at Chili’s on NASA Rd One.

With each flyer presented on April 1, 2014, Chili’s will donate 20% of the event day sales back to our organization.  Please feel free to share the flyer with family and friends.  Download Flyer

Auditions (Woodwind/Brass)

Woodwind and Brass auditions for the 2015-2016 school year will be held in the Clear Springs High School music wing May 18th through May 22nd.  The exact day and time for your instrument can be found on our online calendar which can be accessed by clicking here or clicking the calendar link at the top of this page.

Audition Requirements
  1. Major scales
    • Please prepare all 12 Major scales.
    • Perform 2 or more octaves if possible, do NOT perform only 1 octave unless it is a limitation of your instrument.
    • tongue up, slur down
    • Memorization is not required.
  2. Chromatic Scale
    • Perform chromatic scale full range
  3. Etudes
    • The etudes are available for download from our CHARMS site.

Double Reeds

Oboes and bassoons will need to audition per the information above in order to be placed into the correct band class.  However, if they will be playing with the pit percussion during marching season they will also need to attend percussion clinics and camps.

Busy Semester

This semester is a very busy time for everyone in the band.  All parents and students should check the calendar daily for rehearsal schedules and winter guard/drumline events.  Parents in those two organizations need to sign up and help chaperone or drive the truck for at least one or two of the contests.

All wind students (that’s brass and woodwinds for those who forgot) should have already selected a solo and/or ensemble to perform at the Spaghetti Dinner & Solo/Ensemble Recital on February 27.  This is a required performance for every student.  Winter Drumline and Winter Guard students will perform their shows that evening.  All students will receive a grade for their performance.
